The economics consulting business assists government agencies with identifying commercial operations that can be corporatised or privatised and with the vesting of assets. Also, we assist government agencies with the development of regulations by writing regulatory impact statements and preparing policy for new legislation.

The consultancy assists corporations to restructure and obtain government assistance to expand and develop overseas markets.

  • negotiating commercial arrangements for the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Corporation.
  • inquiring into the commercial arrangements for the former Broken Hill Water Board and reporting recommendations.
  • corporatisations of irrigation assets including vesting assets, establishing new entities and funding for asset renewals.
  • advising on Murray Darling Basin Commission agreement in relation to the water business.
  • advising on the duties of government board members.
  • advising on Corporations Act and Competition and Consumer Act issues impacting water management and operations in NSW.
  • setting up foundations for the restructure of the Broken Hill economy.
  • preparing regulatory impact statements for various regulations under the Water Act 1912 (NSW), Water Supply Authorities Act 1989 (NSW), Plantations and Reafforestation Act 1999 (NSW) and Water Management Act 2000 (NSW).

  • advising the Gosford and Wyong Councils’ Water Authority on regulatory measures for drinking water catchments.
  • preparing and presenting course curriculum and materials on environmental law for government environmental economists.
  • advising holders of waterfront tenancies on government decisions to increase fees and preparing written responses to inquiries of the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.
  • developing alternative dispute resolution for low level complaints and disputes.
  • writing papers on commercial issues relating to the regulation of estate agents in Victoria and development of legislation regulating strata schemes and the operations of owners corporations.
